Job Search and Employment in the Russian Federation

 Job Search and Employment

Illegal work in the Russian Federation is a serious offense. It is important to know your rights and obligations and to be able to protect yourself from unnecessary risks.

When looking for a job, we recommend that you use the all-Russian database of vacancies of the Federal Service for Labor and Employment - Work in Russia: trudvsem.ru.

Simple tips will help you in your employment:

- Work legally: A work patent gives you the right to work both for an individual and for an organization, but your employment relationship with the employer must be confirmed by an employment contract;

- Foreign students studying on a full-time basis can work without work patents and work permits in their free time. In order to conclude an employment or civil law contract with an employer, they will only need to provide a certificate from a state-accredited university or college confirming that they are studying in the Leningrad region;

- Russia has a list of 135 professions of qualified specialists. Such specialists can count on simplified Russian citizenship if they have more than 1 year of official work experience in the Russian Federation. This list includes medical (nurse, doctor, obstetrician), pedagogical (educator, teacher, tutor), engineering, labor (turner, mechanic, electrician, installer, machinist, etc.), agricultural and other professions.
